The Enduro Team will train and compete in various Enduro or DH races around the region. Focus is on the technical and tactical skills needed to compete in enduro races. Physical training, fitness, nutrition and strategy will also be covered. The GVYC Enduro Team will introduce and develop mountain bike skills focused on gravity-oriented disciplines of mountain biking (Downhill, Enduro). Emphasis will be on body position, braking, descending and cornering on advanced terrain with the goal of speed, stability, balance and control. Additionally, coaches will introduce concepts of gravity racing including track walks, feature inspection, line selection, visualization and video review. A logical and methodical process is used to minimize risk and emphasize safety first.
Program Fees
- Early Bird: $600 until March 1st
- Full Price: $660 after March 1st
Racing
Races include Youth Enduro Series, Revolution Enduro and other regional events. Final race of the season will the Grand Enduro Sept 28th and 29th.
Training Areas
Most training will take place in the Lunch Loops trail system. However, the team may ride other areas in the Grand Valley such as 18 road or kokopelli trail systems. Additionally, day trips to Powderhorn, Snowmass or other bike parks may be added throughout the season. Additional fees may be added to cover travel or van expenses for day trips.
Eligible Athletes and Riding Level
Advanced riders ages 12 to 18 with a desire to ride and race enduro. Should be comfortable on black and double black diamond trails in Grand Junction such as Free Lunch, Pucker Up and The Ribbon
Required Equipment
Well maintained and functional dual suspension mountain bike
- Recommended minimum of 140mm rear travel and 150mm front travel
- Recommended tires with 2.4 or more width
- Recommended flat pedals and mountain bike shoes
Helmet and pads
- Helmet and Knee pads required
- Optional equipment includes full face helmet, race goggles, elbow pads, chest, back protector and/or neck brace
