This program is for any rider looking to:

• Ride in a fun and supportive environment to progress skills and fitness.
• Train and prepare for Colorado High School Mountain Bike League races.
• Learn race tactics and gain experience in mountain bike racing.

 

Practices are Tues, Wed and Thur from 5:30 - 7:30pm.

The High School Race Team participates in the Colorado High School Cycling League fall season and races. Athletes from all across the Grand Valley train and race together from early August through October. Combining all the high schools in the valley under one umbrella, our kids have the opportunity to create relationships that go far beyond the bike. The Team practices 3 times per week, mixing group trails rides with hard workouts in a positive team environment.

On race weekends, team athletes race together, ride together, and oftentimes camp together. On race day you wear a jersey that represents your individual high school, and you get the entire GVYC team cheering for you! 

General Information

• GVYC Program Fees are $300 until Aug 1st, $330 after.
• Practices take place on Lunch Loop or Water Tower Trails
• Meeting locations alternate between various Grand Junction trailheads
• Must be in 9th - 12th grade

Important Dates

• August 8: 5:30-7:30pm - HS and MS Fall Info Night
  • Mandatory bike check for ALL HS riders. 
  • Bring your bike and local mechanics will make any necessary minor repairs.
• August 10 - 11: Pre-season Team Getaway at Powderhorn

How to register and pay with the Colorado League

• If your rider doesn’t attend one of the 3 schools listed, register with the school they live closest to.
   
• CO League costs:
  • Registration fees: $170 (non-refundable)
  • Race Registration (two options to pre-register):
    • $75 for each race
      • Race entry fees are transferable within the same race season
    • $260 package for all 4 regular season races
      • If you plan to do all the races, the package is recommended.
